A New Standard
for Carbon Verification
At Hyphen, we’ve pioneered a breakthrough in how carbon credits and emissions claims are measured, verified, and valued. Our atmospheric-based Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (aMRV) methodology replaces assumptions with hard data—enabling real-time, on-site direct measurement and quantification of actual greenhouse gas (GHG) removals and reductions.

Atmospheric
Monitoring
Atmospheric-based methods stand on a rich legacy dating back to the late 1950s, evolving from the International Geophysical Year. This approach has been refined through the esteemed WMO Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) program, encompassing over 126 atmospheric monitoring stations worldwide.
Atmospheric-based methodologies have endorsement from the IPCC, UNFCCC Subsidiary Body on Scientific and Technological Advice, and the WMO itself, solidifying the peer-reviewed accuracy on measured impact.

Leveraging the existing GAW network in combination with expanding a private network of monitoring stations, Hyphen transforms greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations into actionable GHG flux data.

Pioneering the Future of Atmospheric Monitoring in Carbon Markets
Hyphen has developed the world’s first peer-reviewed atmospheric monitoring methodology designed specifically for direct application in carbon markets. This breakthrough enables the continuous, real-time measurement and quantification of greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes, bringing a new level of precision and integrity to MRV systems.
Hyphen is actively partnering with standards organizations around the world to embed atmospheric monitoring at the core of modern MRV — driving transparency, credibility, and scientific rigor across the voluntary carbon market.
A World First
Setting a New Global Benchmark for GHG Quantification
Hyphen, in collaboration with the Social Carbon Foundation, co-developed SCD0003 — Module for Eddy Covariance-Based Continuous Quantification of Greenhouse Gas Fluxes — the first methodology of its kind. This breakthrough sets a new global standard for how GHG removals and reductions are measured, verified, and valued in carbon markets.
By leveraging on-site eddy covariance flux towers, SCD0003 enables continuous, real-time, and high-precision quantification of greenhouse gas fluxes, that directly correlate to carbon credits. The result is an unprecedented level of scientific accuracy, transparency, and accountability — delivering a trusted foundation for high-quality carbon credits.

The Benefits of SCD0003
Why it Matters
This evolution in carbon measurement unlocks unprecedented accuracy and credibility for nature-based projects—transforming nature-based removals into reliable, high-value carbon assets.
This open-source methodology is already in use globally, empowering carbon project developers to generate measurable, high-integrity carbon credits aligned with the demands of next-generation climate markets.
